Darlington Arts Festival

For the Darlington Arts Festival, I joined and helped host a workshop with Nicholas Kempt at the TreeTops Montessori School in Darlington. Here we helped guide teenagers to illustrate their own butterflies in Procreate. After they drew them, we explained how to animate the wings to look like their creation were flying. Next we did some hands on experimentation with paint and dyes, recording the different materials soaking into a liquid filled tank. The kids also recorded different textures around the place. With this footage and their butterfly animations, we taught the students how to then add all their footage together to make some cool effects on their butterflys. Two weeks later, we displayed all their work by projecting them onto a giant butterfly sculpture created by Nic. For the night of the festival, I got to sit behind the projector and control the graphics displayed. Using Resolume Arena I mapped and VJ'ed the projection visuals. Controlling the visuals to the rhythm of the live music performances.
